The Definitive Guide to Nude Asian Spas in North America, Part 2: New York, the East, Texas and the South

The East Coast’s Korean spa culture runs from Queens through New Jersey’s Palisades Park to Virginia’s suburbs, with outposts in Chicago, Atlanta, Tampa and a surprisingly deep Texas row. This is Part 2 of our definitive census of North American venues with single-sex wet areas where nudity is required or permitted – all verified operating in 2026. The etiquette primer is in Part 1.

New York

Spa Castle in College Point, Queens – the East Coast’s most famous Korean spa resort – is fully operational following its bankruptcy reorganization: nude single-sex bathhouses, swimsuited co-ed hydrotherapy pools and ten-plus themed saunas, 55 to 65 dollars. New York Spa & Sauna in Flushing is the traditional alternative at about 40 dollars, and Juvenex in Midtown operates women-only nude daytime hours with co-ed swimsuit sessions late at night. One important exclusion from our verification: Brooklyn’s World Spa, despite its scale, requires swimsuits throughout the entire facility and does not qualify for this list.

New Jersey and Philadelphia

Palisades Park is the East Coast’s Koreatown equivalent. King Spa & Sauna is the anchor: ten-plus themed sauna rooms, a pyramid Bulguksa room, movie theater and restaurant around its nude wet bathhouses, 50 to 60 dollars. Island Spa & Sauna in Edison (30,000 square feet) runs the same format at 45 to 55 dollars. The interesting case is SoJo Spa Club in Edgewater: the most luxurious venue on this list, and the only one where nudity is optional rather than required – permitted inside its single-sex indoor bathhouse, with swimsuits mandatory in every co-ed zone including the rooftop infinity pools. Philadelphia’s entry is Chung Dam Spa in Cheltenham, 35 to 40 dollars.

Washington DC and Virginia

Northern Virginia is a genuine cluster. King Spa Virginia in Chantilly is a 50,000-square-foot, three-level mega-spa; Spa World in Centreville enforces its nude bade-pool bathhouse; and Annandale’s Parkside Spa & Sauna and Riverside Spa are the traditional small-format bathhouses, all 30 to 60 dollars.

Chicago, Atlanta, Tampa

King Spa & Sauna in Niles, Illinois is the Midwest’s anchor – 24 hours, nine themed saunas, 50 to 60 dollars with online discounts. (Chicago’s Sweatlodge, often mentioned nearby, is a Russian banya and outside this census.) Atlanta’s Gwinnett County cluster: Jeju Sauna in Duluth (35,000 square feet, open 24/7), Spa Land and Gangnam Sauna in Norcross. Florida’s sole qualifier is Shangri-La Bath & Sauna in Tampa, the state’s authentic Korean bathhouse at 35 to 45 dollars – see our Florida guide for the naturist resort landscape it sits beside.

Texas and Colorado

Texas is the surprise of the census: five qualifying venues. King Spa & Sauna Dallas (75 dollars at the door, discounted to the 40s at Korean grocery counters) and Spa Castle in Carrollton (75 weekday, 90 weekend) are the resort-scale pair; Crystal Spa in Carrollton is the traditional option. Houston runs Gangnam Spa (a luxury jjimjilbang, nude mandatory, 6 AM to midnight) and Spa World in Katy. Denver’s single entry is Havana Health Spa in Aurora, a traditional Korean bathhouse open 365 days a year, 35 to 45 dollars.

The Honest Zeros

Where the census found nothing, we say so: New England (Boston’s bathhouse options have closed or gone private), Michigan and Ohio, the Carolinas (Asheville’s Shoji is private-tub, not communal), Austin and San Antonio, Phoenix, Salt Lake City, Kansas City, St. Louis, Nashville and Memphis. The pattern is consistent: the venues follow Korean and Chinese immigrant settlement, and outside those corridors the swimsuit-mandatory Western bathhouse is the only option.

Part 3 covers Canada, Mexico and the US territories, where the map thins dramatically – and where one of the census’s best stories lives.

  1. […] The final part of our North American census reveals the continent’s sharpest drop-off. The United States supports more than forty verified venues. Canada has three. Mexico has none. And the US territories have a story worth telling. Every entry below was verified operating as of 2026, with single-sex wet areas where nudity is required or permitted. The etiquette primer is in Part 1, and the US venues are covered in Part 2. […]
